Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

So I was in Deadwood on vacation and decided just to order in pizza one night I asked the girl at the front desk if there was a good pizza place in town and she gave me Pizza Lab. I didn't expect much especially being from Chicago ( we are picky about our pizza) . Boy was I surprised!!! I think it's the best pizza I have had outside of Chicago. The crust was thin but not floppy and greasy like a NY pizza and the sausage had a nice kick to it not that generic crumbly stuff you get from the chain pizza places. Best pizza I have had in a long time! I wish there was a Pizza Lab closer to home.

The staff was very friendly and super helpful. We went during their buffet time and the owner asked if we had any specific kind of pizza we wanted them to make, The atmosphere was fun but the pizza was definitely okay. I've had better and I've had worse.

Pizza was pretty good. We ordered delivery to our hotel at the lodge at deadwood. Took a little over an hour to get to us. The employee that took my order over the phone was somewhat rude and I felt like he was rushing me off the phone. They were out of jumbo pizza crust when i was ordering. That is weird that they would not have the pizza crust. The delivery girl was very nice however. If the call taker was more polite and they actually had the pizza crust for the jumbo pizza's (we had a group to feed) I would have given them a 3 star rating.

Pizza was just okay. It's a great place to take kids if you have a couple of rolls of quarters for the vending and video game machines. Otherwise the decor basically sucks and is very noisy

Dans Special was prepared as thin crust. Perfectly cooked, and tasty. The pepperoni quality was good. Playing cards on each table. A roomy dining space includes two pool tables and an arcade. Fun, laid back environment and good fast food. A gem!

This place is the best! We visit lead/deadwood twice a year and we eat here at least twice each visit. The pizza is delicious! So many different flavors, never disappointed! There are still some we haven't tried yet but are excited to on our next visit. The staff is very friendly and the service is wonderful! We have been in right before closing and they still made our pizza. They have a buffet and will cook any pizza you request, and as long as there are people still eating they won't shut down the buffet at the advertised time. I can't say enough good things about this place. Arcade, pool tables, cards, ice cream, pizza, bar, just an awesome place!

Really good thin crust pizza. Just the way we like it! Beer is nice and cold, which is also a plus.

We came in starving, and a little unsure of the place but the owner was so welcoming and accommodating we felt at ease right away. He supplied us with fresh pizza, including a delicious Thai pizza, as well as a great salad. The place itself is big and great for groups or families.

  • Tom H.

We went for the buffet. They asked if we had a favorite and brought it to us. It was delicious thin crust pizza. The one down fall is the salad is just lettuce and dressing. But it also comes with ice cream - 17 flavors to choose from!!

  • Mike D.

This place is amazing. If you are up in the Hills and want pizza, unfortunately there is not too much to choose from. I am GLAD we chose to eat here. We came for a slightly late dinner one night while staying in Deadwood. The place is really neat inside and decorated really cool. They have pool tables, darts, and several arcade games in the main dining area and hall. We did play several rounds of pool. They have a large TV which actually had the baseball game I thought I would miss on. I'm assuming the man at the counter was the owner based on previous reviews. He was friendly and asked us how we were, where we from, etc... Pizza was fantastic, just as good as anywhere I've eaten. We had one of the all meat pizzas and a regular beef pizza. They were both awesome, though I would have liked slightly more sauce. I would love to eat here again on my next trip.

Over 2 hours for 2 pizzas to be delivered. When calling on to check the status if the order the person answering didn't apologize for the delay and was incredibly rude. Stay away from the pizza lab unless you have a couple hours to wait for it.

  • Gordy M.

Got kids? This place is perfect. Took the five grandkids - ages 5 to 12 - for dinner. Wall-to-wall arcade games while you wait for pizza. But this is no corporate Chuck E. Cheese. Pizza Lab is a slice of local uniqueness. The owner (I assume) comes out and plays Beer Barrel Polka on the accordion. One of the diners found the piano and entertained all of us with a few songs. The young men working the counter couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. The pizza is old-style thin crust, but there are lots and lots and lots of choices. Plus, I'm sure they'd fix any pizza you'd like if they have the ingredients on hand. If the grandkids hadn't been doing the ordering, Grandpa would've opted for the Cordon Bleu. It looked intriguing. After the pizza, ice cream, pool and arcade games, we finally managed to pull everyone out. A look in the rear view mirror on the trip home showed happy faces all around. Don't miss Pizza Lab when you're in the Deadwood/Lead area.

What a nice little pizza joint. I brought in my four hungry kiddos hoping for a little different meal vs stale burgers and cold fries served in deadwood. We found a pizza buffet with a myriad of toppings, chef salad, soda and ice cream all included for a super reasonable price. Kids were happy and the pizza was really good. Owner and daughter kept the buffet stocked and hot! Get out of deadwood for a break!!

  • Brian M.

Ordered 3 pizzas for delivery. Garlic Chicken, Meatza, and Pepperoni. Pizza was very good - no complaints. The only downfall was that we tried calling for a couple of hours before they finally picked up. Not sure what that was, but the food was good.

  • Daniel T.

We came to pizza lab during the pizza buffet and the owner was kind enough to offer to let us pick any kind of pizza we wanted to be added to the mix. Overall the quality was good for the type of pizza they're serving (thinner, crispy crust) and it came with ice cream at the end. We didn't play pool but the tables looked good and the video games were a fun distraction after our meal.

  • Rebecca T.

The first time I tried to go to Pizza Lab, it was about half an hour before they were to close, and we were told they couldn't make anymore pizza because they had a dance going. The Dance Hall was lit and looked ready to hop. The next day my boyfriend and I returned, triumphant. They had a lunch buffet going and the guy who seemed to be in charge (I believe he is called Pizza Jeff) thanked us for returning and promised us extra large servings of ice cream after we ate our pizza. The buffet consisted of several pizzas, and you could request specific pizza from the kitchen, a bowl of cut lettuce with some dressing options, a soda, and the promised ice cream. After we ate and played some video games and pin ball, we decided to get our ice cream. There was a young man working there dishing out ice cream to a family in front of us. Pizza Jeff shoved him out of the way to scoop out ice cream, I assumed it would be to ensure we get those mondo servings he promised. Alas, our ice cream servings looked smaller than the ones the kid gave to the random family. The pizza was good.

Great Pizza (and I am from NY, so I know good pizza)! We had our pizzas delivered to our time-share at Terry Peak, after a day of sight-seeing. Their location is quite far from where we were staying, but the pizzas arrived quickly and still hot. Delivery person was friendly. Would highly recommend.
